Hidden imagery in al*** covers.

OK following on from the discussion of the hidden, stylized image of The Police's face on the 'Ghosts in the Machine' artwork, here is another cover artwork with something hidden in it.

Can you spot the (almost) nude woman hidden in the inner sleeve photograph on Pink Floyd 'Wish You Were Here'?
Design by Hipgnosis.

No thought I could at first see a stylized sort of Renaissance figure ,then tried squinting but no!

Enlighten me Jamie.

If you turn it 90° clockwise and squint a bit, you can see the face of Christ* in the red cloth**.

I wonder how much I'd get on e-bay for it now?

*I do hope one of his facial beardy-shadows isn't something altogther more, er, netherly, in the lady-pic (which I cannot see), that would be tantamount to blasphemy.

**Could also be Nogbad the Bad.

Anyone who has a copy of The Stones- Satanic Majesties have a look and see if you can see all of The Beatles faces. They are there- 2 on left and 2 on the right near the bottom.

If you want to know now I have posted a scan of detail from the the vinyl artwork on my website, see the link below.

If you want to keep looking, don't follow the link.

Detail from the above image.

I have seen other images of the same field in the Pink Floyd artworks book, and possibly in the music score as well, and you can see the woman in some of those too. I don't have wither book to post a scan though.

There is another accidental detail in another album cover I have which is probably well known, so rather than post the image, can you name the album that has Richard Nixon in the background?

I will also post another 70's album cover image soon, and see if you can spot another accident. There is also a series of covers from a 70's German band that have the band leader's son hidden on the covers.

I think that was what Mary Whitehouse said about the Pink Floyd album cover for 'A Nice Pair, which might be interesting to see how many of the puns on the cover can be deciphered. eg. A different kettle of fish.

I tried, but couldn't see her at all. With your 'cheat-sheet' it's so glaringly obvious that I feel embarrassed I didn't spot it.

No. I didn't know about that one.

Here is the Nixon image I was thinking of:

This is from the web, so not that great. I have the album on CD, but not vinyl, which you would need to see it more clearly. It is mentioned on the wikipedia page for the said album. Good luck.

Nathaniel.
Spotting an out of focus/deliberately masked image is very hard. The brain interprets images to a large extent by finding outlines, and then filling in colour, so when the outlines are missing, the brain (eye) does not find the image easily. That is also why line drawings can be coloured in easily, it does not matter too much of the fill colour overlaps the edge a little, as the brain will tidy it up to the line.

Here is another image puzzle. From Roger Dean's artwork for Yes 'Yessongs'.

A simple question. Why are there clouds in this image?

The original artwork did not have clouds, but had them added later, in fact the next day I think.

Got me at my own game! I can't see the Uriah Heep nor the Pink Floyd.
Got to dig the vinyl out!

Apologies if this has been mentioned, but if you take out the inner sleeve of this thing, spit on your finger and rub it on the b&w graphics they become water colors.

Also, if you look on the inner sleeve of the actual cover of Paul Weller's Stanley Road, there's a packet of fag papers stuck down there.

A little bit more detail from the cover with the Nixon image on it. Surprised no one has got this one yet.

I will add that Nixon was not deliberately included on the cover, but was not removed when the cover was set up.

Here is another hidden image from the days when CD covers had the grey plastic inserts behind the disc. Does anyone know what album this image is taken from?

Another one hidden behind the grey plastic is the booklet in 'Kid A' by Radiohead, but I presume everyone already knows about that.
