Kraftwerk remasters

There is a taster of the new remasters on this months Mojo CD. It's an edited version of The Robots from The Mix. Compared to the original version it does sound rather special.

A lot of the Kraftwerk originals sound great already and it has to be doubtful whether they are really worth getting. I don't have the Mix, so that one could be worth going for. It seems better somehow to get new music rather than new versions of what you already have, though if you really like something and have money to burn....

Nigel, The Mix is worth having just for the opening few tracks - The Robots, Computerlove, Pocket Calculator/Dentaku.
As for the remasters, I've heard a few indifferent comments about the new ones, just as there was about the first attempt a few years ago (which sound great to me).
Meanwhile, like the vinyl, the Catalogue box set has been put back until November. Gives me another month to talk myself in to getting the vinyl instead.

Computerwelt sounds crap on CD (whereas Computerworld is fine!) so that seems like an good purchase.
I'm hoping that the vinyl issues follow the example set by Minimum-Maximum. Superbly cut ( superlative bass too). This is even more of an achievement considering that it's half-speed mastered (Metropolis' rig must cut down to 10Hz or so).

The Mix will be here next week, though as I have never heard it unremastered I won't know if it is better..... Minimum-Maximum sounds stunning, though I only have CDs.

There's a review in the current Uncut which says the remasters are a disaster, harsh and over-processed to death. And apparently some of the atmospheric radio crackles and other intentional effects have been removed by noise-reduction software!

Uncut also said Tour De France, Electric Cafe & the mix are an improvement.
I am planning to by the mix on vynal other than that I'll remian with my existing cd's - all these reissues are costing me a small fortune
