Folk by the Oak 2009

Hello all,

We spent a very enjoyable day yesterday at the Folk by the Oak Festival at Hatfield House which is only a few miles from Tom Tom. This is a brilliant, small, one day festival with a great atmosphere. Despite the inevitable rain it was a great event and highly recommended.

The Line up was:-

The Shee
Chris Wood
Karine Polwart
Jim Moary
Kathryn Tickell Band
Lau
Kate Rusby

They were all excellent with Kate Rusby, Chris Wood (Radio 2 Folk Record of the year 2009) and Lau (Winners of Best Group at Radio 2 Folk Awards 2009) stand outs for me.

Depending on the timing this could be a neat after show party for next year's Summer Sound Roadshow.

P.S. The pictures were taken on a phone, as having arrived and secured my first pint of cider in one hand, I set up the first shot on my girlfriend's camera in the other hand, only to promptly drop it into my pint which it and she did not seem to be over impressed by Red Face

Cheers
James

Thanks for that, Chris Wood in my umble opinion is a British national treasure. Cottagers Reply is as good a song as has ever left these shores.

Rain aside, looked a great day.

A young Robbie Coltrane gives it the thumbs up! Smile
