Projects

I'm in the middle of a big project in my retirement. I was a landscaper and over 30 yrs knew a lot of people doing house remodels but never able to design and maintain one of my own designs.

I'm designing my 85 yo landlady's garden, 8 unit '40s apartment. They'd had water in a below grade storage unit for years during big rainstorms. I'd told them years ago they needed a contractor but thought they'd solve it by a bit of digging, plastic and gravel. NOT!

Now doing the front and trenching down a mason says a lot more work has to be done. It's going to be a LOT more expensive. Oldest son with control has to see it. Glad I"m a renter and not an owner.

Tho here's what we installed in her entry, she's all atwitter about the red leaf Japanese Maple. Shade garden and tropical plant in pot is a yellow blooming plumeria bursting with buds. Pink sandstone has creeping Thyme between it.

I have to get that ugly red plastic pot to disappear tho. The foundation down in front is being worked on yesterday and today. My nice quiet saturday morning has the ringing of a grinding chisel off and on, off and on. It has to be done because the basement area leaks water in heavy rains. My nerves are being frayed tho. I'll have to leave for a walk and a movie.
