live recordings on the web

as these recordings are authorized by the bands/artists recorded (ie: bootleg friendly bands) hopefully this thread won't cause Naim concern - I defer to their judgement.

to the point .... if you haven't experienced www.archive.org .... amazing site. choose audio and then live music archive and browse literally thousands of recordings

my experience is some of these are very high quality .....

try calexico at the china theatre in stockholm sweden 04.25.03

Yep it is a great site for Ryan Adams, Little Feat, Grateful Dead, Warren Zevon amongst many others.

Here is another site for you that is authorised.

http://bt.etree.org/index.php

On this one you get everything from The Black Crowes, Ray Lamontagne, Phish, Govt Mule, Martin, Medeski and Wood, North Mississipi Allstars amongst many others.

There is alos a very good bluegrass site which I have just misplaced the address of at the moment.

Try also woodsongs.com and click on their Old Time Radio Hour then archives and look at the fantastic array of artists. You can download from them or listen to the actual radio show.

Wilco put gigs up on Wilconews.
Tragically Hip authorise concert tapings on the Hip tracker.

To be honest I could go on for ages but will stop there.

thanks ... as a bootlegger from 1999-2002, I am amazed at the changes in technology over the past couple years. In 1999, in the Portland area, I was one of the first to make the transition from audio cassette to cd-r for trading by postal mail... now it is all files downloaded and amazingly high quality, quick and efficient.

been having fun with a MacBook Pro and transferring to cd-r to play on the old hi-fi.

The best is
Dime

Loads of stuff on there, from The Beatles through to Can, Kraftwerk etc. I went to a Mercury Rev gig last year and by the time I got home it was already up on Dime!

If you're into the Floyd, then this is great.

You will of course need bit torrent software (Azureus, BitComet, BitLord etc) to download the gigs.

Didn't want to list any unofficial sites as you may get the dreaded ban. As there is plenty out on the web.
