Audio CD causing "disk error" on Uniti, working fine on any other device

Posted by: Alamanka on 17 October 2010

Tonight, we burned an audio CD using Roxio software.

The CD works on the DVD player, works on the CD player in the car, and on two different computers.

It does not work on the Uniti, where we get "Disk Error" message.

I checked the CD in Windows Explorer: it contains .cda files: track01.cda, track02.cda, etc.

I never saw any disk error before on the unit.

Any idea of what could be the cause for this issue?

Thanks.

Many DVD players and in car players can happily play data CDs. But perhaps the uniti cannot.

Ensure when burning your cd in roxio that its set to audio CD, this will burn the red book standard

From memory - .cdafiles do not contain any musical information - merely point the player to where they are stored on the disk.
I've never used Roxio - but as Garyi suggests if set to audio CD it should burn to Red Book standard and then play in the Uniti.

I use Roxio Toast and it has always managed to burn Audio CDs successfully - i.e they play on a CDX2 without problem. I always ensure the files are AIFF before dragging them to the Toaster.

I don't have a Uniti myself, but a disc I burned for Uniti demo worked without problem.

just FYI the format of the file does not matter, what matters is that you have set to burn an Audio CD.

Each music file can be the crappest MP3 available but if the length of the music is under 70 mins then it will fit within red book spec.
