Blu-ray

This is my first post so please be kind. I thought you might find this interesting, ive just been in my local HMV in the North East of England and they have around 10 Blu-Ray titles for sale. "Pity I cant find a machine to play them on"

The price for the Blu-ray movies in HMV is £17.99 I asssume this will come down when/if they become more widespread.
PS As yet they have no HD-DVD titles for sale.

Sonik,
Blu-ray and HD-DVD disks are available from many of the international online retailers now. It might take a bit for the high street to catch up as I don't think any new machines are officially available over here yet.
As an example, go to www.dvdpacific.com click on "Adjust Currency" and set it to GBP then click on the HD-DVD logo on the RHS. Plenty of disks available already and prices are between £7 and £17, £11 being about average.

Dear Allan
Thanks for the Link to DVDPacific. I know that Blu-Ray discs have been available from the States for a while now. I just thought it was step in the right direction, that I could walk along to my local HMV in my Hi-street and actually see a UK HI-Def disc of some sort in the flesh. Complete with a BBFC Certificate.
I could not see any region coding,am I right in assuming all the Blu Ray or HD-DVD discs will be region free?
Thanks again.

Hi Sonik,
HD-DVD is region free so start importing disks now if you want to from anywhere. Blu ray will be region enforced and sliced up into Regions A, B and C (that's Sony for you!)

JCS
Have a look back at your first post...it will say 463 posts (as of 18/10/06) - the counter always records the total number and Sonic has posted twice since his first post.

OK. Got you.
But if you don't ask the daft question you never get to know the answer
