New 55x remote has arrived (along with 552)

Posted by: Graham Russell on 31 August 2007

I've just received a new 55x remote. I opened the box of my new 552 and there it was just lying there Big Grin

New amp and new remote are warming up very nicely.

I'm also due another 55x remote to go with the 555 I received a couple of months ago.

I'm very much looking forward to the 552 running in over the next few weeks.

Happy days...

Graham.

Nice & logical layout and easy to see without having to put these blasted reading glasses on!

Oh yes, a SERIOUS factor, if you ask me. I gather that a small cache of handsets are coming to us soon, by the way, so you can caress your own one. . .

We had the chance to handle one on Friday in the factory. I like the weight and the simplicity of the design.

We were told that they will be shipped to those of us who are owed one (or two) in a couple of weeks. Happy days!

Cheers

ACTs would be far too big and far too much in my room. I tried Discoveries a while ago and they started to set off some unpleasant low-end boominess (if that is a real word).

I'm hoping to try a pair of Trinities at home when I get a chance. They could be very interesting!!!

A while ago I reported that a 552 I had on loan didn't offer a significant improvement over my 252 and that a 555 was a better option. After hearing the 552 at Chris Kelly's place recently I knew I had to get one. Obviously the demo unit I had was below par. I'm looking forward to the 552 improving over the next few weeks.

Yes the Trinity looks good and probably more suited to your room by the sounds of things. I have not heard it yet but hope to soon.

Enjoy your 552! I'll let you know when I get one! Big Grin

Can anyone tell me of which material the R-Com is made of?

rupert - i see it the same way; you are not alone. i kept an older one which i use daily (the newer one being the reserve remote).

So the R-com has buttons for Pre and Tun, but not CD - does this mean, if Pre is selected, that the Next button will take you to the next input AND the next CD track? If so, why? If not, how do you get back to CD?

that's indeed a good question - can someone from naim answer back?

also: is the price for Germany fixed already?? (what's the UK price by the way?)

If the "Pre" button is pressed then next & prev operate pre-amp inputs NOT CD tracks. Pressing Pre again switches back to CD mode.

It would be totally ridiculous if the next & prev buttons change input and track at the same time.

Pressing the Pre and Tun buttons changes the backlight on those buttons from green to white so you know which mode the remote is in. All lights green means you are in CD mode.

Any chance of those of us with IOUs from Paul actually receiving ours?

I phoned Grahams this week to ask about mine. They had nothing to report, but said they would email me when the new remote arrives.

Mine arrived today from the UK. It was an IOU from a CD555 which I took delivery of last November.

So, as I only took delivery of my CD555 in April, I have another 5 months to wait Eek Eek

Don't know Rob Confused

FYI. I'll try and get an idea of how much longer everyone might have to wait by speaking to the factory on Monday and will post my findings here.

Kind regards,

Peter

When I checked with the factory mid last week, the initial batch had (mainly) gone out with new units.

They had run out and a fresh batch, which should be going out to the 'IOU' orders, was being quoted at 10 - 14 days. So, not too much longer.

A chap could be a tad churlish and point out that us IOU holders were in the queue long before the "new unit" owners. Frown Frown

Two weeks was quoted at the factory two weeks ago; now we have another two weeks because of a new batch being built Roll Eyes

And to continue in the churlish vein now I have begun, the switch hole blanking plate for my LP12 which came with my brand new 'Geddon has the old logo on it! Frown
