I know what you mean, although the spaceship was heading away from Earth it could have nipped round The DSOM and attacked from another direction. I think she was right to order it's complete distruction. Another case of deja vu?

I did like the running joke when even the Sycorax said to her, "Yes, we know who you are"

Sycorax were good but I was half expecting our good friends the Daleks to pop in and spread some festive fear to yet another generation of viewers peeping out from behind a Linda Barker sofa.

If they ever bring back the bløødy Daleks I'll personally nuke the studio!

I think that if the earth is threatened by a race of Linda Barkers then that would be quite a good story to watch...
