Speaker setup on nVi

Posted by: Consciousmess on 11 November 2010

Hi all,

I appear to be having real issues with my nVi. The speaker volume and speaker distance from the listening space needs adjusting now I have moved house and my listening room dimensions are substantially different.....

The problem I now have, following the instruction manual by inserted a DVD and pressing 'setup' on the remote, is whenever I use the 'down' button to get to 'speaker settings', the source changes!!

I can't find any way round that and it's become really frustrating as I cannot selectively increases the volume on the rear speakers!!

Can anybody help, as I have tried the 'reset' button and this hasn't resolved my controller issues.

Many thanks for your help!!!

Jon

Try resetting your remote control. The instructions are in the faq somewhere.

Jon, if the softkey selection is OK then, as Dungassin says above, it may just need a remote reset.

Are you able to get into the setup via the front panel and display?

Just did a search for using remote rest, and here's the link :

Thanks a lot for your advice!

Things are now working really well. You see, what was frustrating is that the nVi was outputting every speaker as LARGE and using its internal amplifier for all of them....

Now I have it set so it is appropriate with the nSATS and the 250.2 being the sole driver for them.

Thanks again, but can I ask a further question???

Alongside the speaker volume level output that can be altered, what is the purpose of the DISTANCE setting from the prime seating position??

Obviously I have this set to the listening room I have, but why is there a need for the speaker distance ALONGSIDE the respective speaker volume????

Many thanks,

Jon

I can only assume this determins delay on the audio output.

You need to keep it set to large with the n-Sats too.

The SMALL speaker setting is really only for those tiny little satellite speakers, IMO.

The distance settings determines the signal delay.

This is less important in stereo, but very important in 5.1 or 7.1 mode.
A lot of people will have their rears 1-2m away and the fronts 3-4m. The sub might be further or even closer than those. So you would get a considerable amount of delay if you didn't adjust the distance.
