NAIM BOOKSHELF SPEAKERS

Posted by: David Ng on 23 June 2002

Just wondering why naim has not built a bookshelf speaker as entry level (i.e. relatively affordable) to the naim world of PRaT. Judging from the forum members, it seems many are using bookshelf speakers like the kans etc. Surely there is a market out there for a potential kans replacement.

I am thinking of setting up another small naim system in another room but will not start until I can get a decent pair of bookshelf speakers that can produce PRat well.

Any views?

It's been stated before that a Naim bookshelf speaker would cost at least £1200... hardly going to be a large market for them.

I think JV answered this one on the old forum. IIRC he said that the bookshelf loudspeaker embodied too many compromises for Naim to consider.

Ho hum.

Given naim have bitten the bullet with a centre speaker, all that's missing is something for surrounds (oh, and a smaller centre ;-)). Since these should be above ear level either that's one heck of a floorstander or are a small bookshelf of some kind.

If they are not di/bi-poles they could double as a smaller stereo pair for those that didn't want a floorstander due to room size or whatever.

I thought it was Pitch, Rhythm and Timing!

Perhaps it should be?
