Digital Cameras?
Posted by: liam on 07 February 2009
Hi all,
i wonder if anyone can help me.
ive owned a sony cybershot T50 for a couple of years now, i was very happy with it then i started noticing dust spots on 90% of my flash photos.
after a search on the net it seems that this is a common fault with this model.
i am now looking for a replacement camera.
anyone got any ideas i dont want to get the same thing happening again.
i was thinking about the canon ixus range?
cheers
Liam

Often the snow like white dots in flash pictures are due to light being reflected from dust particles in the atmosphere.
Especially when the axis of the lens is close to the centre of the flash source.

To obtain any meaningful response I think you should state your approx budget ceiling and any constraints you have on physical camera size/ aspirations for picture quality.
A bit like asking for advice on hi-fi here!!

i was looking at about £300 approx.
a compact would be nice i used to shoot manual years ago but dont have much of a clue about digital cameras these days.
so auto would probably be my preference to be honest.
hope this helps.

If the white dots are due to reflected dust you will get them with other small cameras where the lens and the flash are close together.

Now that the Leica C-Lux 3 is out, you can pick one of these (C-Lux 2) up for less than £200. I own one, it is a great little camera, versatile and easy to use, and looks and feels fantastic.

I second that. A brilliant bit of kit in every way.
