Something Else

Hi

I recently discovered "Something Else" by Cannonball Adderley. I think it is brilliant!

I'm a relative novice when it comes to this sort of jazz. Can you recommend some other jazz albums of this type?

Also, my copy of Something Else is a brand new Blue Note lp. Do you know where I can buy more of these?

Ian,

You could do worse than try this lot http://www.vinyl-records.org/ I thought they had some good stuff and the service was excellent. There have been a number of jazz threads, try using the search function. Something else is an excellent disc, glad you are enjoying it.

Absolute classic record. What you gotta do now is buy every record that all those musicians have played on! Start with Kind Of Blue - move to Giant Steps and pick up Hank Mobley's Roll Call on the way (and about 100 other records). One great journey awaits you!

Cheers

Oh man, you must get Lee Morgan's "The Sidewinder." It's one of the classic Blue Notes. Five and a half stars for performance and very good sound. Yes, welcome to the trip -- it could last a lifetime. Carl

Its a fab album. My brother and I frequently play both versions when we need to remind our selves that the vinyl copy is better than the CD!

Sad!

Ian,
which new Blue Note version? If Classic Records 200g vinyl then it truly is Something Else! I also agree with the follow the sidemen reccommendation.
