Naim at home, so what's in the car?

I am interested in what audio system you guys, flat earthers or not, have in your cars that plays music with "the boogie factor" (taking road safety into account!). Do analogue addicts prefer tapes (recorded from their LPs) over CDs?

Nakamichi CD45z, driving my Golf's 8 speakers. No flashing lights, easy to operate, bags of oomph and sounds glorious. I'm not sure that I'd want my Naim's sound in the car, my clean licence is a minor miracle, and long may it continue!

Nakamichi TD 400 ( Tape and Tuner )
PPI A400 4 ch amp
KEF KAR 110 mid/woofer ( Automotive B110 )
KEF KAR 33f tweeter
KEF passive x-over
Nakamichi active x-over for sub
JL Audio 10" dual voice coil in 2 ft2 third order enclosure.
Audio Control EQ
All in a 1990 Honda CRX

Most I installed when I bought the car in 90, except for a few original bits that were stolen
( Nakamichi amps and subs )

Now fully alarmed ( as if it makes much difference in this day of most cars crying wolf )

Does is boogie, yes, did it boogie better with the Nak amps and subs YES !! BUT. . . .

. . . like most sub/seperate setups, there is a timing problem. Whilt parked, it is noticable but when driving and compteting with roadnoise, it is no where as apparent.

Complete standard speaker setup in my Nissan 200SX (i.e. fairly rubbish).

Alpine 7861 CD tuner (brilliant piece of kit)

I simply couldn't justify spending lots of money on a system that:
- I don't use that much (only drive on a weekend)
- When I'd rather spend the cash on my home system

The only music I want to listen to in a car is the sound of the engine. smile

[Or the musical silence of a luxury car].

An OEM Visteon CD6.

It should be illegal to sell these things without Mana.

After living with a car that I would charitably describe as a rusting shopping cart, which only had a semi functional radio, I recently bought a Saab, which comes with a CD/player and radio that are factory installed. I believe they may be Pioneer sourced. It is not something I will change unless I have to as there is a very cool control panel on the steering wheel that would be lost if I switched the head unit. As for the sound, it is no equal to a good, even modest, home system, but I do enjoy being able to play new CD's in the car. Like many posts, I think the car should enviroment, and driving, suggest a different set of expectations. Now, unless I could get a Hi-cap to be wired into the system...
