52 Boards

I bought my 52 second hand and it came with NA526/1 boards but these had been removed so that there are no boards in the phono section. Is this better or should I replace them? I assume NA526 are used if you want to use the phono input as a line input? I know I could replace and listen but would prefer not to have to fiddle!
