Mr. Toon is back!
Posted by: undertone on 30 September 2003
Wow, 7 posts in the last 2 days after leaving us in disgust in July. Does this mean that we are not A-holes anymore?
As Steve from Hi Fi Fo Fum would say, we
gots-ta know.

Let me second (or third, or whatever) the welcome backs.
To undertone: snide remarks from someone hiding behind what I assume is not his real name are quite unnecessary, thank you.

Well, that was just Mr. Toon's current take of events, Pete. As I recall it also had something to do with Mr Toon's, say, Welsh way of posting - the lengthy multi-post I-won't-take-no-for-an-answer way (with smilies instead of humor), which I'm sure he has by now flushed out of his system (sistem?), which is why he comes back a new Mr Toon.

I 'second' the return of anyone who has felt it necessary to not post because of the 'opinions' of others...
This will sound corny but my gran (who is no longer with us) used to say to me-
"Everyone is entitled to their opinion. If they voice it publicly then they should expect and respect the right of another to reply, provided it's done reasonably"
I feel this a fair point, don't you?
With some of the articles I've read recently (especially the mains spur debarcle) I can fully understand why some gave up!

Pr,
I see u disagree with me then...LOL
For me its a case of priorities.
I can give my thoughts to a forum, but in the great scheme of things I don't get upset when a faceless person on another computer disagrees with me...
I respect your opinion...
but I can see why others would get upset at some things- thats their chioce, as is their choice whether to write on this forum.
for pitys sake its only a forum after all..

"I don't get upset when a faceless person on another computer disagrees with me..."
If you consider your correspondents here to be faceless you are more likely to fall into disputes with what are, after all, real people at the other end...
Regards,
Steve.

That's one of the best pieces of advice I've ever read here - well said Andy's Gran!
Have a good day guys.
Jay
Yeah...well it seemed like a good idea at the time.

Steve,
I could not agree with you more.
I usually look at who is posting, and what they are saying, and balance one with the other, due to previous reading on this forum.
It's easy to be bolshi on a forum where the only comeback is to be binned from the forum tho. From what I've read in the past some people take advantage of this.
Personally I like a reasoned argument without people resorting to personal insults. I certainly would not resort to such ways if someone disagreed with me...
