Jennifer Warnes & Willy Deville Al***s: Your reviews wellcomed
Posted by: DenisA on 17 October 2003
I was about to list Jennifer Warnes & Willy Deville tracks to "your 6 favourite tracks" thread and it led me to check their albums on the web. I have JW's "Famous Blue Raincoat" (standard & 180gm LP's) and "The Hunter" (LP)and WD's Miracle (LP). I discovered that JW released "The Well" and WD released "Horse of a different color" & "Backstreets of desire". All three albums have reviews that make me want to buy (artistdirsct.com) and I would appreciate any purchasers comments.

Denis,
Jennifer Warnes "The Well" is OK (with emphasis on the OK). I bought a copy, was disappointed, and now I play it once in a while because there are a few stunning tracks on it. A lot of it is just too gushy and melodramatic for my tastes. It feels like a low-budget "The Hunter".
Having said that, if my copy exploded I would probably buy another copy. Go figure.

Minky,
Thanks for your valued opinion. I guess the review I read was through gush coloured glasses (so I will not buy it). The only track I like on "The Hunter" is Todd Rundgren's "Pretending to care". I wonder if "Jenny could sing an album of Todd" or would she burst the syrupgushomter?
So, Jenny if your reading this, get in touch with the Runt and he will produce a Masterpiece to rival FBR.

Denis,
The three knockout tracks on "The Hunter" for me are "Pretending to care", "Lights Of Lousianne" and "I can't hide".
I have often wondered if the Rundgren track was representative of his work. If it is, can you point me in the direction of something to get me started ?
