How did the experience of enjoying music evolve by natural selection?

Hi,
I had to ask this question as well as I am curious what latest knowledge tells us about why humans have evolved with a taste for music.
Some of you on this forum probably know quite well that I am very materialist in my explanations i.e. I do not believe AT ALL that the pleasure experienced from listening to music has spiritual origins even though such language is often used to express the joy.
....so the rational scientific answer is what I'm curious about!!
I'd be really grateful to hear your hypotheses!!!!!!
Regards,
Jon
