In Praise of David Hasselhoff
Posted by: matthewr on 19 June 2002
I was discussing David Hasselhoff with a few friends at a recent musical evening and we were all saying it that a retrospective of his greatest work was long overdue. Imagine my delight when I found that not only was there such an album but it was gaining fantastic reviews from fellow enthusiasts.

Great Heavens, it's an instant CLASSIC!, June 15, 2002
Reviewer: A music fan from 'N Sync Fan Headquarters
If I had ever known that this album would be released, I would never have bought all these others. Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon?!" Piffle. "Sergeant Pepper's?" What a waste. I should have saved my money and patiently awaited David Hasselhoff's magnificent "Looking For-Best of David Hasselhoff [IMPORT]." All of my musical needs are met with this masterwork. When I'm feeling like rockin, I put on "Flying on the Wings of Tenderness," but when I want to sit quietly and touch my nethers, I listen to "Dance Dance D'Amour." I personally feel that this album has everything I need, so I don't feel bad that all my friends left me after I bought this album.
that's from amazon. to me this sounds like satire. is it me who is the fool or the other guy/gal???

Nick ... actually there are many from pervious days too ... 115 when I last looked, including this track by track review which you might find very useful
Spot track reviews:
1. Looking for Freedom -
2. Wir Zwei Allein - Ganz allein? Also, "kit off"?
3. Crazy for You - Makes Madge's version seem like a rock opera
4. Do the Dance of Small Things - homage to the insect world
5. The Wings of Tenderness - KFC plug
6. Hot Shot City - I live there too, David. Look me up!
7. Save the World - You just have, you dreamboat!
8. These Lovein' Eyes - I particularly enjoyed the way the harmonica scoobles with the piano chard to leem and wangle over the grummeting chorus
9. Fallin' in Love - again. You cheekster, David. What a charmer!
10. Is Everybody Happy - after the last track, you betcha! We never get enough. More.
11. The Best Is Yet to Come - in the shape of "Looking For-The Second Best of David Hasselhoff [IMPORT]"
12. Freedom for the World - akin to Neil Young's "Rockin In the Free World". This will be sung around scout camp fire for generations, or until they all fall asleep, bless 'em.
13. Je T'Aime Means I Love You - not in German it doesn't.
14. Do You Believe in Love (in a mini metro) - convince me it can work, Davey!
15. Dance Dance d'Amour - more an incitement to racial hatred than a ballad - but some touching "upskirt" moments.
16. Everybody Sunshine - it's a verb now.
17. I Believe - in Spangles and Cheesy Muffins. We could be starting a new religion here.

I've read nearly half of them - brilliant. Especially liked:
"I never knew that Je T'Aime Means I Love You, I always thought it was Serbo Croat for a particular type of beetle only found on a small island off the coast of North-East Japan."

"Odd coincidence that so many of those reviews were written on June 14th..."
Equally odd, if you skip ahead to the end, the 5-star reviews go back to February of 1999.

David has most of his fan base in Germany I believe. I seem to remeber some of his fine performances on TV as a young lad. Maybe some of our German 'kollegen' can shed some more light on his illustriuos musical career and god like status

please do accept my humble excuses. yes, it is true. david hasselhoff was not only accepted as an actor but also was highly successful as an actor interpreting an actor who wants to be a singer. he was at all the big tv-shows. what can i say? i mean we started world war II. we are capable of anything!
however, the majority of germany's inhabitants is NOT a fan of david hasselhoff.

I feel sad for the person who bought one and is now trying to sell second-hand for US$8.99. What a steal!

I didn't mean to bring shame upon your great nation by suggesting that all germans are Hasselhof fans. However, there is a hardcore/fanatical fan base, which under the right/wrong political conditions could lead to the wider spread wearing of open shirts, leather trousers (not the Lederhosen variety!) and 1990 style Rudi Völler hair perms.
I feel confident that this will not happen as long as a continuous stream of boybands are sent from england to protect the german population from this possible disaster.
