Just when everyone is predicting higher resolution issues!

But the strange thing is that it might just take off!

We love our high quality systems
We like being at the leading edge, caring more about music than the average punter, but we are at the mercy of mass market content where producing quality obviously does not pay off.

It has been that way since the beginning of recorded music, why should things change. Obviously kids with Ipods are worth far more than ageing audiophiles and music lovers with the dollars to buy a Naim system........even if they do own 20,000 CDs.

Not so fast. The article says that the cards have a capacity of 1GB. This is way more than would be required for compressed albums. Maybe, just maybe, the uncompressed (or lossless, at least) "CD quality" files are also included? Maybe I'm just being hopeful? Holy cow, maybe they are planning even higher quality files? OK, now I'm being really stupid.

You're all right of course. It's quantity, convenience and loudness that will win out over quality in the end.

I got talking to the manager of a music shop on site at warwick Uni and he mentioned this new media. He said he would not be stocking it and would be introducing more vinyl. the shop is called Rise - decendant of Fropp i think. He will launching his Website soon where you can purchase Music and DVD etc. After my bad experience at HMV, this shop brings me hope -for one he is knowledgeable, for two he has a 'SOUL' section, a blues sections, funk section, country section, classical - you know the usual sections you would expect in a music store. He also mentioned getting artists in to play live. Now that's what i call music....

1. naim is not " leading edge" unless you mean it is clinging onto the edge by its, well manicured, fingertips.

2. Spending obscene amounts of money on equipment does not mean you care "more about music than the average punter". It means that you probably have more money than sense.
