buying vinyl online

Wheres a good online shop to buy used vinyl? particuly if you are in NZ. I understand that NZ pressed vinyl is inferior to overseas copies but is this true? Ive found plenty of classical sites but what about rock and pop albums. A search of the archives has not really told me much.

Ian,

I just wanted to second Alan's recommendation for Insound, which specializes in independent-label pop of all kinds. I always look for vinyl there (in the "annex") before buying a CD anywhere else, with a success rate of around 30-40%.

I just yesterday ordered 16 brand new releases, all on LP, and most full-length with some double sets and one triple. Total cost = $153 USD. Cool So even shipping across the world to you this might be competetive.

FYI: "tigersamp15" is a coupon good there 'till Jan. 24.

Good to see a fellow Albini fan. You've got some ball-busting rock in there Alan. Your Ida selections are all very good too.

Insounds looks like a good supplier - I wonder if there is a UK equivalent?

I have imported vinyl from the US, Austrailia, Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Finland etc., buit it can get quite expensive - the postage is sometimes more than the value of the record. There is also the potential hassle of dealing with damages, more so with vinyl than CDs / DVDs.

I use genre specific outlets like Boomkat, Carbondiscs, Felch, HTFR, Mute, Action, but have not found any full range internet vinyl supplier. GEMM is good for second hand.

I am lunky enough to get to Berwick Street in Soho and the Covent Garden shops about once a month, so I can stock up on vinyl then.

Some good Thrill Jockey /Constellation stuff listed there chaps, and of course the early ACR set!
