how to unlock sony phone
Posted by: David S Patterson on 26 January 2008
Hi, against my better judgement we gave our daughter a mobile phone (sony erricson) for xmas, and she has managed to change the phone lock code from 0000 to something unknown. Any ideas how to resolve this(without much expense)
Thanks

0001, 0002, 0003... obviously has little appeal, but if she changed the number inadvertently, might the 'new' code be the first 4 digits of the last number she attempted to call?
Just a thought.

Nope, get in touch with the vendors and ask them for the personal unlock code.
This should be prompted in the manual.

It depends if she has locked the phone or the SIM.
If she has locked the phone with its lock code then it will have to be unlocked with a dealer code or via programming software, try a sony service centre.
If she has locked the SIM card with its PIN then 3 incorrect attempts will cause the SIM to become 'blocked' which will require you to enter its PUK (personal unblocking key) available from your network or maybe from the dealer.

If the phone has only been in use since Christmas, and if it is Pay As You Go, it may be worth while putting in a new SIM card. They cost very little, with most PAYG cards, you pay £10.00 and the card comes with £10.00 credit.
