The grey/lilac interconnect

That’s how it’s called in the Naim jargon. I did not meet it in its lilac jacket only in the usual grey. The effect is very, very good. The recent version CD/Pre interconnect betters the old (similarly grey but somewhat thicker) version by a lot.
Going into particulars, the old version is like a pleasant cloud of tones on the whole operatic scene (you see that’s my favourite art) whereas the new one makes a precise drawing of each of the roles and instruments as well. Everything is much better, only bass seems decreasing a little but it can easily be virtual because the cloud is vanished and sound comes rather from the instruments and singers.
My system is CD-based but if you need a similarity for LP-users then I’d say it’s as if upgrading from a Linn Axis to an old LP12 – or at least half of this effect.
