10 Years That Changed the World

quote:
A decade ago, Netscape went public, blasting the Web into everyday life. Now, Wired talks to the inside players - from Marc Andreessen to Shawn Fanning to Steve Jobs - about 10 years of boom, bust, and sock puppets. Interviews by Jeff Howe.

A few pages that take you on a short trip down memory lane and although the view looks mainly at happenings as seen in the USA I'm sure some of the pages wiil make you smile.

I now remember that any IPO containing the word "internet" would be vastly over subscribed and millions could be made on a rising market for a day and some companies vastly over valuing an idea and then classing it as an assets on the balance sheet. Happy days indeed Smile

Well they were certainly bonkers days all right. It spread like fever through the sector I was working in - it was amazing the number of cynical sane people who suddenly thought the world was a different shape. I still have a good laugh when I think back. That's not to say that it hasn't transformed a number of business models, but boy, did some people make idiots of themselves.

Cheers
