Ry Cooder, (slight return)

My respect for this man grows, just spinning 'Get Rythum' apart from being seriously well recorded on vinyl at least, it is also a really great album.

Also in the collection: Borderline, Vista social Club, Into the purple vally, Jazz (seriously good), Paradise and Lunch, Bop till you drop, Crossroads, Slide Arena.

Everything on Vinyl.

What should be next on the menu?

Yep I agree I have his self titled album and Borderline in my collection but along those lines I have about 5 Little Feat on vinyl and CD. That was a great period in freedom for guitar work. I've been reading "Down the Road The life of Bob Dylan" and he really opend up the music scene to going to Nashville to record and for singer song writers to do it themselves. Great stuff came out of that era.

Garyi,

Ry Cooder's soundtrack on the film named above is very nice and pleasant to listen to, although
I guess it might be difficult to get that on vinyl.

In a related vein, though perhaps with more of an R'n'B sensibility, you might try Live And Let Live! by Bobby King and Terry Evans.

One of my all time favorites and I'm an opera/classical guy. Love this album.

Like you, I'm a big fan of Ry Cooder and agree with all of the comments above.

I know you were looking for inspiration recently and you may have exhausted Ry's catalogue by now so you might like to try some other slide players:

Sonny Landreth, particularly "South of I-10" or "Levee Town"

Chris Whitley - I'd go for "Living With the Law" or "Dirt Floor"

Also Ben Andrews, who is bluesier, or even some Jerry Douglas, who is a stunning bluegrass player.

If you liked the Little Village album, check out some of John Hiatt's albums particularly "Bring the Family" or "Riding With the King" (both of which have been available on vinyl).

Unfortunately most of the stuff I've got is on CD only, so if you find any on vinyl please let me know.

Cheers

...and I presume you've got all of Bonnie Raitt's albums.
