Hi,

if you go to http://impulse7.com/naim/systems/thumb/thumb.htm

and look at the first system picture, what kind of speakers are those? Just curious.

whoever is responsible for the site, BTW, it's very nice.

System 20 brings back a very strong sense of déjà vu…

Tony.

PS I've heard 13.

I like 26!

CD's on top of the speakers
Electronics spread between a chair and a chest of drawers
Power cables dangling in front of the drawers and plugged into a multi-way adaptor
Turntable on top of the electronics

Neat or what!

33 is the most elegant. My wife would slit my throat if I did no. 34! 44 gets the award for the ugliest speakers. 1 is very neat, 9 is horrible and 11 is a "how not to"!

Regards
Steve

Personally, I like system 43. I've heard it. The only problem is the record player though.

ps. new system "43a" piccies to follow. It looks very similar to system 43 except an LP12 now lives on a Mana RT to the left of the CD/Pre/Tuner stack and the whole caboodle is placed 500 miles away from where it was before.

When ever my girlfriend moans about all the stereo everywhere I show her 9.

I found this site ages ago, and 9 has been my saviour on more than one occasion.

(Sorry if you own no.9, but you must live on your own)

what's the name of the speakers in system 1. maybe the owner of them will recognize his pick.

I've heard 13, 27 and 43 and I recognise a few of the other systems. 28 is familiar because I took that picture at the Bristol show last year with Rico's camera.

If it's a bloke he can't be on his own as the glass under the turntable appears to have been dusted...

Hmm, maybe it's Stallions system and his cleaner sorts it out?

They look a bit like a pair of big JPWs.

That's Ulrich's system. He used to be a fairly regular poster round here (sadly missed). The TT stand is a Link Pyramid, and the elecronics are in self made sand dampled boxes under quite some presure. If you find any of this strange you want to see what he did to his SBLs! (they are mounted in bits to the back wall).

Joel B (who's ears I respect) paid Ulrich a visit ages ago and reckoned he got the best sound he had ever heard out of SBLs.

Tony.

PS I think Ulrich's is probably kind of neater aesthetically than Joel's! (13).

Ulrichs! I remember now I asked him what all the crap was on the back of his SBLs, they have a tonne of sand on the back of them or something!

Hah, mabye he has his own listening room or something.

I though naim kit was supoosed to dissapate heat through the chassis, so surely his is under all sorts of pressure.

My guess is Spendors.
Posted on: 28 January 2002 by Justin
as well was spendors. Maybe 1/2's, but i can't be sure. I'm thinking of trying a pair of 1/2's, and was concerned that huge stand mounters would look awful. I guess those look ok.

aren't there some copyright issues here? A credit, at least, for people's photo's you've used would be polite.

On the plus side, errr nice to see all those system pics in one place?

Rico - SM/Mullet Audio

PS - I liked the look of 35 - well retro, 32.5/Hi/01/250 and Yam 600, LP12 Ticktok.

Probably Spendor SP100s on Soundanchor stands?

They look nicer in black, eh?

Actually I guess Rico is a little cheesed off that you didn't include his pride and joy in the collection. So, in keeping with the new found collective forum harmony..... Here it tis

BTW. Thanks Steve. You're obviously a man of exceptional taste!

What ARE those?
Posted on: 28 January 2002 by Bob Edwards
Chris--

The ones I think you're asking about (immediately above your post) look like an old Energy speaker.

Justin--The guesses I would make are a big JPW, one of the Spendors, or an old ProAc. Lots of possibilities.

Cheers,

Bob

Not cheesed off at all - but thanks for the memory, P!

The speakers in question are built by a friend of mine and called Audiomark AM18's. That setup has now been superseded... more shocking setup pics later.

Photo 16 - the Habitat rack is gone, replaced by mana. When I have time...

Tony,

that's hardly a fair comment.

If you remember the context of that picture, it was Joel's "dry run" before he re-assembled the Hutter into a cupboard.

You can't get much more "aesthetic" than that, if you're going to complain about the look of the boxes. I was going to say "a good system is to be seen but not heard", but it's the wrong way around! You know what I mean.

cheers, Martin

I heard Joel's (13) when it was 135'd instead of 500'd. Very nice too.

PS Check out the, er, "tasteful" prints to the left in no.30

Cheese!

Oi Joel! Care to share with the group just how many are in the cupboard at this moment in time?

Tony.
