I've got an old bolt together 160. My bulb went. Found a suitable replacement

I have a 250 with a 3 digit serial number. naim serviced it for me in 2001 and it it sounds amazing. Getting it serviced really was worth every penny.

got a snaps - serial no 126. It was modded to drive both a 32 and a w/man pro. The cap has gone all leaky so it's languishing in the loft somewhere. I'm banking on Naim establishing an old kit museum sometime and then I'll swap it for a pair of NBLs or something!

Looks like Chris got me, I was about to post on my NAXO-3 s/n 0065. This one also had Julian's hand in it during it's initial install here in the states. He was on a visit and tweeked it up for the owner so he says.

I am not sure if there is any difference between the service provided by Naim in England and other locations (in other country). Somehow, I let to beleive that the Naim Audio (England) always has the magic touch that other locations lack (I hope I am dead wrong on this issue as I am in Canada)

I've refurbished a NAPS with no S/N, no SN not an erased one or a missing sticker. It was with a 160 and a 12 (both 2 digit SN) and you know what, the kit sounded better without the external PSU.

Here's one for the NAIM museum:- A NAIM NAC-22 Serial Number 0018.

I worked in a HiFi store in the days when we sold NAC-12s and NAP-160 combinations and I am sure the NAC-22 and NAP-120 (who remembers the NAP-120) was released after the 12s/160 units.

To me it seems a bit strange that this unit appears to have arrived after the 12s/160 combinations but carries a serial number 0018.

The other odd thing is the NAIM site has a serial number list and indicates some 15 units were made before 1982.

I bought a NAC-32, NAXO and three NAP-250s sometime in 1978 as a matter of fact I have a price list dated June 30 1978.

The serial numbers of the three NAP-250s are 1310, 1466 and 1470 Ummmm....

ISTR that prior to 1982 each Naim model had its own sequential serial numbering system as is common practice in the industry. The company streamlined their systems somewhat by changing to sequential numbering of production output regardless of model in late 1981 (December?).

Assuming this to be the case then NAIM-Collector's NAC 22 (S/N 018) was the 18th NAC 22 produced way back in 1976 (the year the 22 was introduced).

One might also deduce from this that there may well be a number of Naim products out there with S/N 001 but only one with S/N 000001.

One might also assume that although Julian may well have had a hand in the assembly of Chris Horne's SNAPS (S/N 057, circa 1978), it likely wasn't on the kitchen table.

That's very interesting, you seem to have some useful information and you may be able to shed some light on the mystery surrounding the units made prior to the 1982 start date....

Does this actually mean that the total number of units created up the end of 1999 is greater than 161,142.

Then having said that there will be two units sharing the serial numbers of my old NAP-250s (1310, 1466, 1470)one prior to 1982 and one after.

What a good idea - a Naim Museum, even more reason to spend a carefree day in Salisbury!!
