Matthew - great picture - I have never been to Death Valley, but have promised myself that it will feature on my next trip to the USA - after Coyote Buttes and the Paria Canyon. Did you make it to Zabriskie Point? Can I ask what lense you used - it may just be the scan, but it looks as if you may need to use a centre filter.

DJH said "I have never been to Death Valley, but have promised myself that it will feature on my next trip to the USA"

All the deserts -- Death Valley, Mojave, Joshua Tree -- are really interesting and well worth a visit. As is Mono Lake which is just a bit further north.

"Can I ask what lense you used"

I borrowed a Canon EOS something for that trip and cannot remember the lens. Prob. a 28/2.8 or something.

"it may just be the scan, but it looks as if you may need to use a centre filter"

That was my cackhanded attempt at 'burning in the corners' in Photoshop which I keep meaning to fix. It was originally done on a dodgy laptop TFT and it was only when I got a proper CRT that I noticed it was quite so badly done.

When I drove through Death Valley I just couldn't understand why there is a sodding hotel there!!! in the middle of nowhere!!! Stovepipe Wells I think it was called. Totally weird.
DJH - There is NOTHING at Zabriski Point except a lay-by & some monument

Disagree - there is all that space and texture

Stovepipe wells - just think of it as the quivalent of an english coaching inn

Here's some more of mine.
I used a Nikon f-70 with Tamron 28-200. Though considering dumping it and getting a Nikon FM2-n or FE2 with a 20/24/28. Any advise on what to look out for welcome.

Great stuff, Haroon. I like the spinning prayer wheels image in particular. The image but one after that - is that a temple incense burner, or an industrial extruding machine? Wink
