Specific LP12 upgrade questions

However in any other circumstance, the LP12 works better without.
I recently realised the error of my ways and have removed it, using the LP12 without any baseboard, and it's a lot better (the Tramp was fitted at the same time as a Klyde, hence the confusion.
Most dealers will let you try it, so give it a go.
Linn's sensible face states the Trampolinn is for massive / heavy surfaces, the standard baseboard is for light and rigid stands.
If you do a search you'll find details of Linn's recommendations, I posted previously.

P.S. I was told the Ekos could be 'upgraded' (by giving you an Ekos II, for a lot less than £700, may be worth checking that figure?

Lastly how much better is the newer Arkiv (silver vs gold lettering) and hence is it worth replacing before it's worn-out?
I have not noticed the different colouring of the lettering but if you mean the Arkiv A vs the Arkiv B, then the Arkiv B is MUCH better than the Arkiv A (I have used both). The Arkiv B uses a boron cantilever and has different coils I believe which results in a higher output. Regardless of these technical/physical differences, the Arkiv B is superior in performance and IMO opinion the best Linn has ever produced.

Every so often you should move the tonearm left and right and up and down past the point where it goes in normal play, 100 times each. Supposedly this moves the bearings into a fresh position. When I tried this for the first time, I did hear a small improvement, and it kind of makes sense.
