The ultimate rack
Posted by: Topof on 29 January 2003
Hi folks,
I made a decision the other day to my Naim sistem off the floor (I can hear you all gasping out there BTW).
So being a bit of a pov at the moment, I decided to have a look through the Argos and Index catalogues. I needed something in light wood and not too tall.
Index had the perfect thing at the ridiculous amount of £11.99 but it was too tall, but I thought "what the heck I'll have beans on toast for the next week", and bought one. Now it looked perfect in the catalogue but I wasn't prepared for just how perfect it really was.
When I got it out of the packaging I realised I could keep it low by not adding the top shelf - "excellent", I thought.
Then I realised that the uprights were.... made of plastic. "Whoa - no frickin' way" I thought. After the initial shock I thought that maybe this wasn't such a bad idea - no interferance from metallic parts.
Once I'd got it assembled (exactly 1 minute and 20 seconds later) I put the kit on the rack and it didn't seem too bad.
However the piece d'resistance, and I have to tell you I was pretty delirious by now and didn't think this thing could get any better, was that it wasn't too stable. "Home Run!", I thought. "It fits in my house, no metallic interference and not rigid - this thing is made for Naim gear".
I haven't got it running yet - still waiting for speakers but I'm steeling myself to be amazed at the sound quality.
So folks, in the future just remember it was me and my Index pov table that saved you lot hundreds on your future rack purchases.
