Gorgeous summer grooves while cooking the tea, it's good to be alive
Just thought - what are the essential summer grooves? This seems to fit the weather beautifully..................

Diccus - That is an incredible album. I just got the remixes version. Great for a warm day at the beach!
I have a few suggestions -
and this which just seems to bounce along without a care in the world...
and if you can get past the stereotypes, these are not your average Beach Boys album - there is alot of music beyond surf music that has a very subtle and layered texture - great for summer. Not hip and cool like Bebel Gilberto, but a great listen.
ANd my all time favorite of the bunch

Great song - Mr Wyatt's last vocal for the Softs and the last track of theirs to feature any vocal IIRC.quote:Originally posted by willem:

My favourite summer record often played in the depths of winter as a cheap option to avoid SAD and persecution by Ryanair staff...a truly marvelous cd

Great call Dean. Did you ever see the limited edition of that disk that actually came in a mock cigar box? ...shoebox sized affair, lovely.

Brian Wilson's too.

I'd normally recommend some jazz - summer is jazz. But last weekend I was in a record shop (remember those?) and I was seriously tempted to buy some reggae. I think those reggae rhythms and long hot summer days were made for each other. If they'd got Exodus, I'd actually have parted with the readies! Safe to say, my collection is still a reggae free zone.

Brian Wilson's too.
It has a certain universal optimism and incredible arrangements and playing to boot. I am not surprised it is his favorite. I prefer it to Pet Sounds actually.
