I bought the first album (Two Pages) and was rather dissapointed after all the hype of the time. Music biz awards and the like. Creating Patterns is certainly better, and has a nicely anthemic feel. However it is also painfully pretentious at times; seems that the songs were mostly written from deep within the group's collective colon. Mined ewe, I really like the utterly spam-headed Mark Murphy track. (Summary - Murphy is placed in dark room with large supply of jazz cigarettes, a squidgy bass machine, and the number 12. Nice.)
It also seems that they can't find the off button on their Big Squelchy Bass Riff Electrofunkaliser. Not necessarily a bad thing, I suppose.
The group seems to occupy a similar space to Outside. The latter were there first, and are even more sphincter-suckingly pretentious (warning bells should go off whenever Cleveland Watkiss or Karime Kendra appear on an album), but have produced excellent - but patchy - stuff. Less reliant on hooks and loops, probably more innovative, somewhat more downbeat.
