Sod the rest of the 'collection'...what one album lives in/on your cd player/turntable as of right now??

Sorry...

my choice is 100th Window by....
Posted on: 25 February 2003 by Ron Brinsdon
As of "right now" it's American Beauty by the good ole Grateful Dead.

I can't get into 100th window - Mezzanine grabbed me instantly and stayed on the CD for ages and it still comes out very regularly but the new one - well I will keep trying.

When I get the chance to listen to music I enjoy good loud Rock music. I can't live without the likes of Pink Floyd, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Queensryche etc.

However late at night I enjoy something a little slower like Mike Oldfield or Antonio Forchioni.

I love simple female vocalists, Lisa Stansfield was a bit of a favotite but hasn't released anything decent lately and then of course there is Stevie Nicks, my all time favorite!!

NB..
'Dreams' by Stevie is possibly the greatest song ever written

'Love and Anger' by Kate is close though

Still got many back catalogues to trawl through, so no new releases I'm afraid...

Current, recently discovered faves - both played last night

Signify - Porcupine Tree
Strangeitude - Ozric Tentacles

Old favourites rarely far from the TT (only picked one album by each)

Pawn Hearts - Van der Graaf Generator
Disintegration - The Cure
Script of the Bridge - The Chameleons
Land of Grey and Pink - Caravan
Heaven Up Here - Echo and the Bunnymen

Honourable mentions must go to ...

Joy Division
Cocteau Twins
King Crimson
Talking Heads
(early) Simple Minds

Currently living in the CDS: Frank Zappa/Mothers Live in Oz. Wasn't sure when I bought it a while ago, especially as it cost £30, but I have grown to love it. Zappa with a funky five piece band (Terry Ted Bozzio on drums), no overdubs, very raw and a stonking version of Illinois Enema Bandit!

If anyone cares, you can now buy it for less than £20.

Arf!

Currently on heavy rotation

Sole: Selling Live Water

I can see it staying there until I finally get my hands on Square by Buck 65.

I really like the 'Falling in Love is Wonderful' disc that has just been re-released. This is the only album I own of his but was the last thing I listened to. I am really into the Calexico album at the moment and 'Forgiven Now' by Dolly Vardon is never far away (in fact I cannot think of a recent album that I have played so much).

Velvet Underground and Nico
The Clean “Boodle Boodle Boodle”
Roland Kirk “We Free Kings”
Grateful Dead “American Beauty”
Magazine “Real Life”
Neil Young “Harvest”
Others come and go, but these are never far from the turntable

Tom, I think your list defines eclectic. Well done.
Can't seem to put down Polly Harvey's "Stories from the City.." at the moment.

Last album I listened to was Lauren Hoffman - Megiddo. I know, it a few years old. But it's excellent!

Otherwise these are never far: Martin Stephenson - Kelly Willis - Eleanor McEvoy - Dolly Varden - Ani DiFranco - Belle & Sebastian - PJ Harvey - Ron Sexsmith - Tori Amos.

Never far from the deck right now;

on CD Bruce Springsteen - The Rising, Tracy Chapman - Let It Rain

on vinyl - Duke Ellington - The Essential vols I & II, Glenn Miller Orchestra.

redeye/NB - I think Stevie Nicks 'Landslide' from the 'Fleetwood Mac' album edges 'Dreams' for her all time best track.

Jerry Joseph
Caitlin Cary (formerly w/Whiskeytown)
Richmond Fontaine
Jeff Trott (formerly w/Sheryl Crow)
Carrie Akre

with the exception of Caitlin, they are all indie rockers from the Pacific NW of US

usually on bootlegs, but the commercial releases are excellent, albeit overproduced :-), as well.
