All new car radios to be digital to help justify the analogue switch off in 2015. Money money money ...

I am absolutely sure that any decent FM radio will be exportable either as a charitable donateion to the people's of nations more sensible that the UK [ie. keeping analogue broadcasting of wireless], or for sale to them ...
Only truly rubbish analogue radios should be disposed of by scrapping rather than donation or sale ...

I wonder if by then they will have come up with a modification for existing units ? Probably not possible .

Probably. I think the Leak I've 'borrowed' from my Dad has had it.

Ive had DAB radio in my car for 3 years (Maunufacturers std build). Works well in the car but BAD, sorry, DAB at home is appalling.

I'm sure the guys at Naim will come up with an add-on unit or modification board by 2015.
I've come to FM radio late, 2003 when I bought my NAT05. I will be sorry to lose it as a listening medium as the quality is great, and vastly superior to DAB. The guys with NAT01's must be livid.
Steve.

How does the version of DAB used in Europe compare to FM?
Posted on: 17 June 2009 by Klout10
At least in The Netherlands, DAB hasn't been very successfull...

Hello Michel,
Do you mean the number of people taking up DAB, or the quality? Both?

If there is no other choice perhaps that will change?
Any way to get internet radio in the car? Output from iPhone?

You don't seem very upset by that.quote:Originally posted by Klout10:

DAB is really wonderful - only the other day I found a station that played non-stop Alan Brazil and a phone-in with George Galloway and finally the Stan Collymore show - now you don't get that on FM.
