Lost inspiration

OK as well as the spelling other things are not looking so good.
I have covered floyd, and yes. Also I have a fairly good collection of Bowie, most of Clapton and a good amount of Mayell.
I have the whole fila catalouge and a heck of a lot of zappa.
I have finite amounts of various music which I bought but don't listen too.
I have loads of modern electronica, an amount of D&B, serious chill down and up beat techno.
I have Jethro Tull, Van Morrison, Stevie Wonder.
I have Joni Mitchell, The Yardbirds and Kool and the Gang.
I have Elton John, U2 and Sade.
I have Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk and naim stuff.
I have lots of music.
But I am bored, I don't know where to turn.
Assuming I like electronica, prog rock, and D&B, where should I go next?
I remember hearing a Yellow album at a hifi show, sounded great. The only yellow song I remember was rubber band man and that was not good. should I delve deeper?
Help I am bored right now.

David Slater's got great taste, it has to be said.
A good place to start with Yello is "The New Mix In One Go" compilation - magnificent stuff. f you've got a turntable, try and get it on double LP.
Neu! 75 is a masterpiece.
Try also; Can "Future Days" their most accessible, then move on to "Monster Movie" and "Tago Mago".
Magazine were great (esp "Correct Use of Soap" from 1980.
Then there's the best band EVER - Joy Division. The orginal LPs ("Unknown Pleasures", "Closer", "Still" and "Substance") on vinyl are best, if not try tthe compilation "Permanant" or better still get the 4-CD box set "Heart & Soul".
New Order are worth a punt, but forget anything after 1993 - the people masquerading as NO currently are impostors!
Buzzcock, IMHO, were the best singles band since The Beatles. Try the "Singles Going Steady" compilation if you don't believe me. The debut album "Another Music In A Different Kitchen" is magnificent too.
Then there's the Durutti Column - the first album (1979) "The Return Of The Durutti Column" is the best, but '89's "Vini Reilly" is also superb!
Finally, try A Certain Ratio. "Early" is a great compilation on Soul Jazz. Only now their influence is being recognised.
23 Skidoo's debut LP "Seven Songs" is wonderful too.
Hopefully that will keep you busy...
Happy listening!
Kevin
PS I suppose you know about The Blue Nile...

I'll second the ska/rocksteady/early reggae recommendation. The Trojan box sets, and the Tighten Up reissues are a fantastic place to start.
Also, what about digging crates for funk? You'll never feel like you're done if you head down that route. Head over to funk45.com, it's awesome.
www.galacticfractures.com is a great source for checking out their recommendations.
I would also suggest checking out more 'underground' hip hop. Check out the Def Jux, Mush, and Molemen compilations for starters. Some of the post-golden age stuff is great too. Haiku D'etat and Project Blowed are both well worth tracking down. They were clearly a huge influence on Rae & Christian and Aim.

Amanda Lear? Then we're up for Noel [Sparks protege] and the incomparable Roni, another memorable quasi-transexual. Kylie's done her best, but there's a lot more room up there for psychotic disco divas.
