Guilty Pleasures 3: Music you shouldn't like but do

A relative of the other two GP threads in the Padded Cell.

For me the ultimate "I know it's wrong, but I really do like it" track, the one I only ever play when the house is empty and I know the neighbours are out, is "Goodnight Tonight" by Wings ("the band the Beatles could have become", in the immortal words of Alan Partridge).

Also:
"The Edge of Heaven" by Wham!
"Wake Me Up Before You Go Go" by Wham!
"Tiger Feet" by Mud
"Some Girls" by Racy
"Breakout" (12-inch version of course) by Swing Out Sister
"Livin' Thing" by ELO
Pretty much anything written by Chinn and Chapman on the RAK label in the 70s

'Hope' the second album by Klaatu. Three Canadian chancers who, in the mid-seventies, had everyone thinking they were the Beatles recording under a pseudonym. All daft, prog nonsense but great fun.

Am I allowed to think that If I Thought You'd Ever Change Your Mind by Cilla Black is one of the greatest records ever made.

I also like Shaddap You Face by Joe Dolce and even some Benny Hill and Rolf Harris numbers.

ok I'll admit it: it sometimes happens that I hear a hip-hop, r&b or worse song on mcm that I don't completely dislike. I guess I could also mention the 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 album by Midnight Oil: obviously, this is not listenable but undoubtly so good.

This has only really happened to me recently but it is quite shocking - I have to admit that I really like that new Take That single "Patience".

I've heard several songs from the new Take That album on the radio, and liked all of them. I just have the attitude that I like what I like and don't get hung up on who it is.

Two of my favourite "pop" songs in recent years, S Club 7 "Don't stop movin", (great video too) and Cher "Believe"!!

I saw 'Sweet child of mine' performed by a Filipino band who were note perfect and had three of the sexist girls playing/singing and dancing Ive ever seen and thus the song has stuck in my memory. This song was very different to the other stuff they played and they spoofed the whole hard rock thing briliantly. When I searched for the original and saw this clip I thought it was a spoof too and started laughing but now I realise its for real - those guys are a walking rock cliche surely? I dont know anythng about hard rock music - are all rock bands like this?

Haircut One Hundred, first album Pelican West, featuring Favourite Shirt etc.... A great album and very nicely recorded too, but it does draw a few looks when you pull it out..

Claudine Longet albums are my musical guilty pleasure. Her first few albums in the late 60s were on A&M records (in the USA, at least) and she had a couple more on Barnaby records in the early 70s.

Then she "accidentally" murdered Spider and dropped out of sight forever.
