A little Test

Posted by: ewemon on 26 June 2007

Read this question, come up with an answer This is not a trick question. It is as it reads.

No one I know has got it right. Hoepfully you won't either.

A woman, while at the funeral of her own mother, met a guy whom she did not know. She thought this guy was amazing. She believed him to be her dream guy so much, that she fell in love with him right there, but never asked for his number and could not find him.

A few days later she killed her sister.

Question: What is her motive for killing her sister?
Give this some thought before you answer. See below

I will post the answer after a few people have posted their replies.

You're assuming that they are both hot...

The man was her father that she had never met before. They had sex at the funeral. She had an IUCD in situ (coil), which "aborted" the resultant pregnancy, the baby would have been her sister (and daughter).

Dealing with this sort of scenario is just a routine day at work for me.

You could earn a few bob providing clients for the Jeremy Kyle show if thats what your everyday work scenario is like.

Joking aside Rockingdoc, huge kudos from me for providing professional help doing work like that...Great necessities call out great virtues!

So...how many daughters do you have that you have never met and how do you make a living out of it?
(only joking)

The answer is not so important, because there are a number of valid explanations, the "little test" is designed to identify people who have particular thought processes...

The people who instinctively offered the explanation "That the sister was killed in the hope that the guy would attend the second funeral" display thought processes similar to that of psychopaths.

Now where is that chainsaw....Hhhmmmmm

I'm not sure that conclusion was reached by instinct, rather than elimination of other explainations. A lot of the answers given totally ignore the fact the guy remains unknown and put him in all sorts of relationships. As he remains a non-interactive mystery man there are clearly no other explainations that I can see that relate to the given story....yet. We have to assume that the clue to the motive is in the story.

It is poorly worded scenario any way: "her own mother" if it is her mother why "her own"? "Killed" of itself has no implication until the question about "motive" which then suggests illegal killing.

I think this tells us more about the person posing the question than those responding to it.

One thing for sure - the 'solution' will be a great disappointment Roll Eyes

Some of the members cyrene already seem to know the answer.

The simple answer is that she murdered her sister so that the man would appear at the funeral of her sister as he was obviously a friend of the family.

However this apparently is a question that was devised by a famous American Psychologist to ask people to determine whether they have the same mentality as a killer.

The question was supposedly tested on a group of serial killers who all gave the above answer.

Cyrene who seems to have studied A- level Psychology may be able to give you more info.

I reckon its nothing more than a silly canard.
Believe not everything that turns up in e-mail, especially items sorely vague about their bona fides.

To make it a real psychology test it should have been done on a reference group of randomly selected people as well, leading up to the inevitable conclusion that the reference group are all potential serial killers who should be locked up...
