Any suggestions for quality yet practical CD storage racks - something that lookd good but unobtrusive and holds about 300 would be ideal

I like the Stands Unique range. The CD300 (I have three) is nicely made and is quite versatile.

The Ikea 'Benno' is a populair, affordable CD storage system, that is available is different wood feneers and colors.
The take in very little floorspace (17 x 17cm) and can hold up to 180 CD's each.
(one tower cost 45,- euro)

I'd second the Ikea Benno. Cheap but pretty good looking. Only problem, if you are an "anorak" and store CDs in alpha order, then you continually need to shunt them onto different shelves as each one becomes full due to each one only holding @ 15 CDs..

Thanks for all your comments - like the Ikea but recognise the problem of moving stuff around if you rely on alphabetic order. Habitat's Carmen range looks worth checking out but their site is slow to load on my non-broadband line

Alco,
I hope Ikea are paying you for endorsing their products! Thanks to your picture my wife is at this moment on her way to Ikea Edinburgh to pick up 3 of them as they're just what I've been looking for to ease my CD overcrowding problem.
Thanks.
Tom.

I bought a great cd cabinet off of www.homedecorators.com
Just click on media storage. I bought the mission style cabinet which holds about 650 cd`s. They have many interesting cabinets including one that looks like a old fashioned english telephone booth. Check this site out. david

Billy is the better CD system from ikea, the ones posted are a bit of a handfull.
The billy range will each hold 333 CDs for your information. and each one will costs around £60
They also do a taller one which holds a lot more CDs.

I like the habitat Lyric: puts the cds in drawers rather than out on display, but still browsable. Looks like a little version of an old doctors filing cabinet. Much less obtrusive than racks if you go for a minimal aesthetic.

Has anybody tried to rotate the axis of the CDs in the listening room by 90 degree? Sufficient is to do this with some 20 pcs. Prepare yourself to an unexpected effect. You even may suspend buying storage till you learn this effect.

this cabinet is a real conversation piece. Unfortunately, it doesn`t hold enough cd`s for me. The previous cabinet that I bought in the preceding message holds over 650 cd`s. david
