Rating of threads

I have noticed that there is a provision for the rating of threads on all topics but it has fallen out of favour. Maybe older members can relate if this system ever worked and if in fact there is/was any merit in it.
Also I have never seen a poll on this forum.
Just asking.

On second look it appears I am totally wrong and provision for rating no longer exists. did it upset too many naimies.

I rated a few threads I thought were of particular merit for one reason or another but I seem to remember there was a spell just before the switch when virtually every single thread was rated 5 stars which made it all rather pointless.

Yes, we can all do our own private rating and the number of replies is generally the best indicator.
On second thoughts lets keep it simple.

I never really took too much notice of it and then a little gnome 5 star rated everything - very DADA.
