I see MF are releasing Rush: Permanent Waves on 180g vinyl. Do you think this might be worth a punt for Rush fans?
Great album but not the best recording in the world.

...180g pressing of the original master tapes.

Not my first choice Rush album for 180gm, but not bad.

And coming on CD in November. Not my first choice either but I'll probably give it a punt. Thanks for the heads up Brucie.

Don't know much about the 180 m vinyl but the mastering engineer who is doing their cd's at the moment is doing a fantastic job.
Just waiting for my Natalie Merchant - Tigerlily to come in.

It was certainly a good job on Fragile. The margin of enjoyment exceeded that of the expectation. So that was nice.

Yes, saw them last night in Sheffield - a great show, even if we screwed up and missed most of the first half of it.

I have mixed feelings about the Rush remasters. The best sounding are 'caress' and 'fly by night' .
'Permanent waves' is awful; must have been badly recorded.
As for '2112', 'moving pics' and 'farewell' they're OK only...which is a pity as these are masterpieces.

Chickens, the truth!! ** SPOILER **
If your going to Birmingham or Manchester DON'T read on...
For the last 5 years, Geddy Lee hasn't used any backline amplification - when you see a guitarist with a Marshall stack or a bassist with Ampeg etc. But to match Alex Lifeson's rack, he's filled the gap with odd items.
Originally he had a refrigerator stocked with drinks, this went on to become 3 industrial washing machines, then vending machines and finally the chicken rotisseries.
With the washing machines, they contained exclusive t-shirts, which were thrown into the crowd during the encores. They were also miked at the 'glass' drum front to resemble amps. If you looked carefully, the cookers were also amped at the air intake at the base. I never saw what was thrown into the crowd at
Newcastle or Glasgow, they may have been shirts, or possibly little rubber 'RUSH' chickens/ducks.

No Neil.
Who wants to sit with the boss, when you can be third row, directly in front of
mr Lee. I never saw what was thrown as they went straight over my head!!
