Scams....this is a new one?

A new scam method here not nearly so obvious.
Look at the supposed sellers other items.
All these items have been completely revised, including title and pics. Different location to supposed seller. Last night most of sellers items were childrens items and now all bar one have changed to high value goods.
Lots of bids on the CDS3.
I might be wrong but I don't think so....reported it anyway.

If you are right, then things are certainly getting more sophisticated, this one looks legit at first glance.

They have also copied exactly the style and layout of one of the reputable audio shops on ebay. (cant remember the name though!) Perhaps they are just copying other adverts that have appeared before on ebay and hope someone falls for it...

It's interesting - if you look at the history of what they bought and sold compared to what is currently being sold, there are radical differences and certainly a wide variety of expensive goods.
To me, it doesn't look right based on the history.

I'd be very dubious. A legitimate seller of something like CDS3 would explain why they were selling it, offer a dem etc. A scammer, on the other hand, will more likely cut and paste boring technical stuff from Naim's website.
I sell bits and pieces on eBay, including some Naim staff, and it is alarming how scammers can acquire history to make them look legit.
None of that is to say that there is anything wrong with this auction, but the signs are not good.

Hey Nigel,
This made me laugh!

The text layout from that ebay listing is identical to any listing placed by Audio T, so I'd assume the listing was one of theirs originally.

To me it still looks legit, and copying a dealers text is no crime.
I would contact the seller and ask for a dem.
That would legitimise it.

Just had a look on ebay and there is one scammer/twat with three CDX2s listed. Consecutively listed, each with different photos and text.
This guy must be seriously stupid if he thinks somebody is going to fall for that.

Hmmm suspicious - £4 post and packaging? I always believe location London, post Worldwide needs looking at.
In my experience a 'contact the seller' requesting payment 'Cash on Collection' roots some of them out by a lack of reply (there was one two weeks ago).
Nothing foolproof through - if in doubt don't get involved.

The pictures of the CDS3 are from another website and have been used countless times in other scam attempts.
This is a definite fraud.

A 3-day auction with no reserve? Sounds like scam city to me.
(Update - looks like the auction has been pulled)
Steve.

Well it's gone now along with all the other items.

Did that before I reported it, but when an account is hijacked as this one was the questions go to the hijacker, not the account holder.I asked him if it was his to sell. This was his responce....
this is mine
why?
you want to buy it or just curious ?
