Oh how I hate Arenas

Posted on: 13 July 2007 by Ron Brinsdon
Hello Diccus.
I tend to agree about arenas - fine for bands like Rush with a big show and effects but not the WS.
I was looking forward to this tour but will not be going to the NEC. Not sure that it will sell out either.
Anyone know how Nottingham arena compares to the NEC in terms of size, facilities, acoustics etc?
The Friday feeling is here

Saw them at Hammersmith Odeon a couple of years ago. If you haven't seen them before, prepare to pick your chin up off the ground.

.....I know what people mean about Arena's but aren't we getting a bit too precious about this? ...seemingly it's ok to like a band when they are playing coffee bars, record shops or tiny bars ..as soon as they play "big" gigs many people get into a righteous tizz (adopts superior Prince Charles style voice) "Of Course I Wouldn't Deign To Lower Myself to go to an Arena Gig" ...are we worried we may be regarded as being rather too "common" to attend an arena???

I agree Malky. They are the best live band in the world, and have been for the past five years or so. At Hyde Park last month they were astonishing (especiaaly that awesome 10-minute medley of Cannon/John The Revelator/Astro/Ball And Biscuit), and I'm really looking forward to seeing them at the O2.
If they're playing anywhere near you, I urge you to go see 'em.
