Anyone heard of William Hayes?

I have just received a CD by Wiliam Hayes (1708-1777), having heard a track on Radio 3 the other day. It's Concerti Grossi on the Capriccio label. The sleeve notes say that he is largely forgotten, and better known as a Handel scholar than a composer in his own right.

It rather puts me in mind of Monteverdi, which is no bad thing of course.

Anyway, it seems very good to me; I wonder if anyone else likes it?

No I haven't and my Concise Grove Dictionary of Music doesn't provide much more information than you have already. The entry is two short paragraphs, although the second is largely about his son who was also a composer.

Grove does mention that he wrote two oratorios, church music, cantatas, glees and instrumental pieces.
