What was the tackle like ? Sky refused to show any replys. Was it really that bad or just unfortunate

Saw it by rewinding it on my Sky+ box (but only from the original "live" view) ...looked like Taylor was just too slow ..arrived late and crocked him ...it didn't seem (from that view)the worst I've seen

Actually the challenge was pretty run of the mill but unfortunately had horrendous consequences.

I thought the red card was harsh.

I haven't seen it and don't want to. I remember David Busst's horrendous compound fracture that left me quite upset at the time. I gather today's was a similar career finisher.

It will be all over the papers tomorrow ,some of the pics I saw from another website not long after game had finished were horendous ,If you are in anyway Squeamish don't buy a paper !

MOTD showed it very clearly in slo-mo.
As others have said, the tackle wasn't malicious, but had horrific career ending results.

I agree.

I watched MOTD last night and they were all talking as if he had died. It was unfortunate accident but the consequences were horrific.

Henrik Larssen had what looks like the exact same injury whilst playing for Celtic in France I think it was against Lyon. His ankle collapsed sideways. I was watching the game live on the box.He didn't take too long to recover and I hope it is the same here.

The two worst injuries (and this bit is not for the squeemish) was a weightlifter who tried to lift a weight that was far too heavy for him in the Clean and Jerk. Consequently the knee joint seperated and came straight out through his thigh.

The second one however happened whilst I was watching an American football game where the Washington Redskins Quarterback got tackled and his shin bone broke and the lower half went straight through his leg. It was horrific watching in real time as the camera angle clearly showed what happened..

Yeah I agree that above all it was an unfortunate tackle, not a sending off. I hope that Eduardo can heal from this break sufficiently well to continue his career. I remember the Larsson break and at the time medical staff suggested that his muscle definition aided recovery. Let's hope for this young man it's the same. Mentally though... this can take quite a bit longer.

i dont think personally it was malicious and by all accounts taylor is distraught about it.
i only hope and prey that eduardo will make a full recovery from this - kieran dyers injury was thought to be career ending but im pleased to say that he is back in training, so there is always hope.

Sorry I did not make myself clearer I ment it was disgraceful posting the images I saw almost before the match was over!

If this http://thesportsgranola.wordpress.com/2008/02/23/eduardo-broken-legs-pics/ is not for a red card, what is then?

It has to be deliberate, not accidental, to get a red card. No matter how bad the consequences.

Ozren,
No, it wqasn't a red card offence, unlike a two-footed tackle on Manchester United's Nani the previous week. Who was the cuplrit and was not punished at all? Eduardo.

If justice had been done, Eduardo would probably not have played against Birmingham. Life has its little ironies, hasn't it?

All that apart, I sincerely hope he makes a complete recovery.
