Picked this up on double vinyl.
That Mr Albarn is a clever chap. He has created the platform to express his musical ideas outside of blur whilst avoiding a lot of the associated press attention which normally comes with a more obvious aproach. The bands cartoon characters allow him an opportunity to remain anonymous in the background.
The album is such a fun summer record. It has some talking heads/ tom tom club moments as well as sounding in places like the beach boys and early primal scream.
Shaun Rider's contribution is by far the best thing he has done in an age. It is great to hear his unmistakable manc drawl over the top of a bouncy driving tune.Even Dennis Hopper pops in and provides an interesting voice over.
Highly recommended. A 'dance' album with brains.
