Got a vinyl copy of this today, there's a lot of tape hiss. Is every copy like this or have I just got a bad (Vertigo) pressing? Anyone got a decent one?

If you have picked up an early version then i do believe that this was a common prob.
However, i recently purchased the cd and it sounds bloody good.
It may be that a vinyl re issue might have been cleaned up.
Also, remember that when this was originally recorded it was with some fairly primative equipment for the types of sounds they were acheiving!
Dam good purchase BTW.

If you paid less than 15 quid for this original 12inch you did well.

Yep, never had it on vinyl though, so I wanted to give it a try on TT. Just so bloody hissy...

Is it the single album or the double? They are both bad but the double is worse. I'm not sure it's just tape hiss, I think it's the synths as well

Fortunately I still have my original vinyl as well as later CD,
For pleasure, I listen to CD/fondle-sniff vinyl-sleeve.
IMO vinyl is fine/often was brilliant, but CD version does just as well.
Although I do not like what cars etc do, my best memories of this vinyl are listening to cassettes I made of vinyl whilst motorwaying.
I have felt need because of my love of vinyl in particular not to buy more Kraftwerk recordings ...
... Morgenspaziergang ... und so weiter ...
Buy/listen to CD (having reversed insert so Autobahn motif is external)/enjoy feely-touchy vinyl-versions ....

Thanks to a recommendation by ROTF I bought the live CD "MinimumMaximum" which has fantastic sound quality. I now wish I had seen the shows. The version of Autobahn is excellent.

Seeing them live at Brixton was absolutely sublime.
I really recommend the 5.1 dvd. Superb visuals to match the music.
