Advice on Used NAC 52

I have an opportunity to buy a used NAC 52 in good condition. It is a 1996 model which has recently been recapped and cleaned by NANA.
I would like to know if the latest spec models are that much better with regard to sound qualityto the extent I should have this unit upgraded if I do purchase it.

A 96 model, recently recapped???

Call NANA with the serial number to be sure of what has been done on it.
96 models are up to date.

Children are grown. I just have to reconcile my expennditures with my wife.
That hurdle has not been cleared yet for this prospective purchase.
