Passive 180s biamped or single 250?
Posted by: Terence Chong on 09 February 2003
Hi guys,
Was wondering if passive 180s biamped would be a better solution tonally compared to a single 250?
Also, if I were to go the former, going active would be my second goal...rather than single 250 to active 250s..
Thank you

you'll get a different sound that is entirely based on preference.
the 180s - assuming they are identical - will give you greater musical accuracy. in other words, the relationship between the notes and the beats will be better sorted out.
the single 250 is higly capable on its own, is more immediate, much more dimensional but will not go as loud as efficiently. has better tonal accuracy. octave to octave naturalness.
also, you'd be able to live very happily without the 250 without direct reference to it.
verdict
:- try and dem both at home.

Terence,
Try home demming the 135's or single 250. A single 250 would do for me.IMO
Vik,
Did you get your SBL's yet? Can you get me any IBL's??
I have a couple of iPods but are for Mac's only Sorry

Din, yes I'm still actively looking for ROSEWOOD SBLs. The newer ones, not the old or updated ones. Might exchange a Supercap for a pair, in case anybody's interested.

I had the same thoughts once, I was reliably informed by a naim man that a 250 is the way forward.
