The Guinness Premiership Thread
Posted by: Chillkram on 12 January 2007
As we have a football thread I think we need a Guinness Premiership thread as well in the run up to Wasps taking revenge at Welford Road in April.
Details can be found here on the season so far.
Remember, Wasps are the play off kings!

sadly not Mark, it should be one heck of a game. I do fancy Leicester to pull out all the stops tomorrow but what do I know about Rugby.
Posted on: 27 April 2007 by Chillkram
JWM, Jamie Wednesday and I are in town for the game tomorrow, so might pop in to say hello to Peter. Which car park would be best to use, PB, Newarke St?
Posted on: 27 April 2007 by Polarbear
I would have thought so, if you get there early enough you may get into one of those next to the ground but you have to be very lucky,

Yeah, right...!
Leicester Tigers 40-26
Wasps about to collapse the scrum yet again, resulting in match-changing penalty try and sin-binning of Wasps' tighthead prop.
Unbiased Match Report
They're GGGGGGGGRRRRRREEEEEEEEEAAAAAAT !
Thanks for a great day, chaps, and to Chillkram for driving and JamieWednesday (and Mrs JW) for hospitality.
Looking forward to repeat at Twickers on 20th May, but this time with you boys in your Wasps shirts...

I knew it! I didn't think you'd be able to keep from gloating, but the bragging rights are only temporary, James.
You're right to make the most of them as the Leicester Todgers will be up for a tonking in the Heineken Cup final on May 20th.
Still it was great to meet you and I had a really enjoyable day. Thanks for the great company JWM and Jamie Wednesday, shame I couldn't join you in a beer. I'll have to make up for that at Twickers. And don't worry James, I'll be wearing my shirt alright!
And thanks for the Rory CDs and vinyl, I was listening to him in the car on the way home.

Mark,
As someone with a love of all sports I have always looked for a team to follow, and 'latched onto' Wasps (probably just liked the name!) from an early age in the late 70's. Although I have never been to watch them I do look out for their result each week, and look forward to a triumphant occasion on May 20th. (Just in case you were feeling outnumbered - PB & JWM take note!).

Good on ya! But don't worry, Jamie Wednesday is a Wasp as well. Maybe you should come along to the next Todgers v Wasps match up (we need the support!).

Mark,
If you're not having lunch, you might want to turn to BBC2 at 1.30pm to re-live the experience.

Nah, let's talk about the team that's going to be crowned the best in Europe!

Yes indeed, Leicester. (And will-be winners of the Premiership - just to keep us on-topic.)
Welcome to the fray, Flyfisher! Threeway banter is much better! Perhaps Peter Cymbiosis would like to join in too? Oh, no, sorry - Northampton were relegated... (just teasing slightly smilie)

Another supporter for Gloucester! Is it just me is there a marked lack of coverage of Gloucester rugby?
For my sins I read the Observer and Eddie Butler's write-ups always conclude that either (a) the other side were brilliant in winning or (b) despite losing the other side were completely and absolutely brilliant.
The ball-by-ball action report on the BBC website yesterday offered more coverage of the Northampton game, for eff's sake.
Here is hoping that the outcome coes not mirror 5 years ago when Gloucester were runaway league leaders and then lost to Wasps, cough splutter, in the first trial version of how-can-we-screw-more-money-out-of-rugby-followers.

Luckily for you, Nick, Wasps aren't in the play-offs this year, so you only have Brizzle, Todgers and the Tommy Coopers to contend with. Shouldn't be a problem!

We wuz robbed.
WASPS played magnificently throughout the game, clearly having beaten the hoodoo affecting their away game this year and put away the handling errors that have dogged the season so far. Some superb work from our forwards enabled us to drive the Tigers backwards in the scrum. Only some poor refereeing decisions and plain bad luck let us down I feel.
Or did I dream that.
Not a great day for Chelsea either. And I left Cymbiosis a bit poorer. Not sure I want to go on a trip with you two again...

Funny, that's exactly how I saw it! And I'm sure they put that shed in the way so that we wouldn't argue when they told us that Van Gisbergen's kicks hadn't gone through the posts!
Thanks for a good day, James and the hospitality was much appreciated.
ps. Sorry about taking you into Cymbiosis.

Ha Ha, no (I didn't realise you had to pay for them, times must be hard in HiFi retail...)
Just one of those Arcam Ipod docks (the rdock) which makes a decent fist of turning the Ipod into a Hi(it's relative)Fi jukebox. Far, far superior to the Logic one I had before (although given then the r-dock and the Chord cable I put on it cost more than the Ipod itself that's no surprise I guess!). Useful though 'cos I do find myself more and more just whacking the Ipod on shuffle and letting it go...
