The Guinness Premiership Thread

Posted by: Chillkram on 12 January 2007

As we have a football thread I think we need a Guinness Premiership thread as well in the run up to Wasps taking revenge at Welford Road in April.

Details can be found here on the season so far.

Remember, Wasps are the play off kings!

For my sins I read the Observer and Eddie Butler's write-ups always conclude that either (a) the other side were brilliant in winning or (b) despite losing the other side were completely and absolutely brilliant.

The ball-by-ball action report on the BBC website yesterday offered more coverage of the Northampton game, for eff's sake.

Here is hoping that the outcome coes not mirror 5 years ago when Gloucester were runaway league leaders and then lost to Wasps, cough splutter, in the first trial version of how-can-we-screw-more-money-out-of-rugby-followers.

Martin Corry - one of three Leicester Tigers in the five nominations for Guinness Premiership Player of the Season. The other two nominations come from Brizzle and the Tommy Coopers (Hmmmm No Wasps...? No Gloucester...?)

JWM/Jamie Wednesday

I am in possession of Heineken Cup Final tickets. You have email.

We're off to Twickers to watch Wasps gain revenge over the Leicester Todgers and be crowned the (last?) Kings of Europe!

Good win for Gloucester this afternoon; a comfortable victory over Saracens.

Castagneide's column in the Observer should be interesting. And let's see if Eddie Butler can deny Gloucester having played well.

Now if only Bristol can overcome Leicester, there might be a slim chance of Gloucester winning the final.

As opposed to the more likely Leicester overcoming Bristol, and Gloucester having no chance of winning the final. Winker

Well, Leicester may win, but not convincingly

Been back from an afternoon in the SHED, GLAWS win 50-9. It was a game but not a contest, after the first 20 mins.

The Shed were singing "wish we could play you every week".

Just watched Tigers making hard work of Bristol, now feel quite good about next Saturday.

COME ON GLOUCESTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You finished top of the f*******g Premiership over a season, so lets win the cup.

We will save a bit of Tiger for the Wasps to chew on.

As Chillkram will tell you, there's a bit of a tradition of the top team at the end of the regular season not winning the final...

(He must also be pleased for Wasps not to be in it, for an extra week's prep for the HC final!)
